Today, I want to talk about something that’s close to my heart—the journey of coping with miscarriage and the grief that follows. It’s a topic that’s often shrouded in silence and can feel incredibly isolating, but I want you to know that you’re not alone. Through the stages of grief, we can find a path to healing, leaning on our faith and each other for support.
Denial
When we first receive the heart-wrenching news of a miscarriage, it can be natural to experience a sense of disbelief and denial. It’s like our hearts and minds are trying to shield us from the full impact of the loss. It’s okay to acknowledge these feelings and take the time you need to process them. Remember, it’s okay to not be okay.
Scripture for Reflection:
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)

Anger
Sometimes, anger can rise within us, directed at ourselves, our bodies, or even at God. It’s okay to feel angry—it’s a part of the healing process. Our faith does not require us to put on a facade of unwavering strength. We can bring our raw, unfiltered emotions to God, confident that He understands our pain.
Scripture for Reflection:
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Bargaining
In our darkest moments, we may find ourselves trying to strike a deal with God or replaying scenarios in our minds, hoping for a different outcome. It’s a natural response to try to regain a sense of control. When these thoughts arise, remember to surrender them to God, trusting that He sees the bigger picture.
Scripture for Reflection:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

Depression
Grief can often lead us into a place of deep sadness and introspection. It’s important to seek support during this time, whether it’s from friends, family, or a professional counselor. Don’t hesitate to reach out for help.
Scripture for Reflection:
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
Acceptance
In time, we begin to find moments of peace and acceptance. It doesn’t mean that the pain disappears, but we learn to carry it with grace. It’s a journey unique to each of us, and it’s okay to take all the time you need.
Scripture for Reflection:
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped.” (Psalm 28:7)
Sisters, navigating miscarriage and grief is a journey—a messy, non-linear journey. But with God’s unfailing love and the support of our community, we can find hope and healing. Take each day as it comes, and remember that you are never alone.
